Today's Game
This afternoon, the Bisons conclude their weekend series with the Syracuse Mets in their return to Sahlen Field. Next, Buffalo has an off day on Monday before heading to Toledo for three games as apart of a six-game road trip. They will also round out the trip with a three-game set against the Clippers in Columbus.
Yesterday's Game: BUF 9, SYR 7
Buffalo's offense strung together 18 hits on the night seven batters collecting hits and all having a multi-hit game. OF Socrates Brito and INF Patrick Kivlehan both had three hits while INF Andy Burns collected four hits in the win. Kivlehan hit his 17th longball with the Bisons crushing a three-run bomb in the fourth inning.
Syracuse Mets (8-8)
Buffalo and Syracuse are meeting for the fifth, and final, time of the 2019 season. The two teams are evenly split at seven games each heading into this last series. In their previous meeting, the Herd took three-out-of-four games from the Mets (7/4-7/7).
Today's Starter
RHP Andrew Sopko will make his tenth start of the season when he toes the slab Sunday afternoon. In his last start on 7/30 vs Rochester, Sopko tossed five innings giving up six runs (five earned) on seven hits in the no-decision. The righty has gone at least 5.0 IP in five of his nine starts with Buffalo.
Andy Burns
INF Andy Burns added to his hitting streak with four hits and extended that streak to seven games. Burns is 15-26 (.577 AVG) during his streak and now leads the team in hits (90). Appearing in all three games this month, Burns is hitting .583 (7-12) with two runs, two doubles, two RBI and a walk (.615 OBP).
Socrates Brito
OF Socrates Brito had his 22nd multi-hit game in 71 with Buffalo after going 3-5 on Saturday. Brito also crossed the plate three times- the most of any Bison hitter in the win. Brito has now scored 36 runs in 56 Night Games.
Patrick Kivlehan
INF Patrick Kivlehan launched a home run and drove in four in Saturday night's win. Kivlehan continues to lead the team in both categories and is now hitting .283 (45-159) with 28 runs, 11 home runs and 35 RBI against right-handed pitching while with the Bisons. His 16 walks versus righties also gives him a .368 on-base pct.
Blue Jays
Toronto (45-68) dropped Saturday's contest 6-4 against the Baltimore Orioles. 3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 3-4 with an RBI- his 18th the last seven games. SS Bo Bichette also had a multi-hit game going 2-5 and now has a hit in each of his first six games of his young Major League career. RHP Sean Reid-Foley faces RHP Jimmy Yacabonis in the final game of the series as the Jays look to take the series with a win on Sunday. They then head to Florida where they face the Tampa Bay Rays for three games.
