Today's Game
Tonight the Bisons continue with their final regular season homestand, hosting the Rochester Red Wings for game two of a four-game series. Following Thursday's finale, the Herd will hit the road for the final road trip of the 2019 season. Buffalo will take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for a four-game series that concludes on Labor Day. The Herd is still trying to run down Scranton in the IL North divisional race.
Last Game: BUF 5 ROC 4
Buffalo fell behind the Rochester Red Wings early, but contributions from some of the newest Bisons helped the team take the opener on Monday. LHP Thomas Pannone gave up one run thanks in part to four walks in the 1st inning. INF Nash Knight's first Triple-A hit was an RBI double to get the Herd on the scoreboard, while Beau Taylor's RBI two-bagger in the 2nd frame helped lead a three-run inning that propelled Buffalo to the win.
Rochester Red Wings (7-6)
Buffalo and Rochester are meeting for the final time this season, after splitting a four-game series last week in the Flower City. This is the Red Wings' second trip to Downtown Buffalo this season, after trading wins on July 29 and 30.
Today's Starter
LHP Anthony Kay takes the ball for his sixth start with the Bisons this season. The southpaw is coming off of his first win with Buffalo after holding the Red Wings to just three hits over six innings of shutout baseball in Rochester on August 21st. Kay has allowed just two earned runs over his last 17 innings pitched, lowering his ERA with Buffalo to 2.36 in the process.
Beau Taylor
C Beau Taylor went 2-4 in Monday's series opener, helping the Bisons offense pound out 10 hits against the Red Wings pitching staff. It was Taylor's first multi-hit game with Buffalo since being claimed off of waivers and optioned to the Herd. The backstop recorded nine multi-game hits with Las Vegas in the Pacific Coast League before joining the Blue Jays organization as well.
Matt Dermody
LHP Matt Dermody once again went multiple innings out of the Bisons bullpen last night. The lefty has logged seven frames between his last two appearances against the Red Wings. Last night Dermody secured his second win since coming back to the Herd this season.
IL North Standings
The Bisons remain in third place in the IL North race. Buffalo's elimination number dropped to five with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's extra innings win at Pawtucket, couple with Syracuse's sweep of Lehigh Valley. Both the RailRiders and Mets are tied for the division lead, with the Herd still three games back.
Blue Jays
Toronto (53-80) enjoyed an off day on Monday and now will welcome the Altanta Braves to Rogers Centre for a quick two-game series. After another day off on Thursday, the Blue Jays will welcome in the AL West leading Houston Astros for a three-game weekend set.
