
Bismarck vanquishes Minot in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Bismarck Bobcats defeated the Minot Minotauros in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).
The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. The Bismarck penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The Bobcats surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Bismarck put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Minot to score on any of its five power plays. The Bobcats put 40 shots on net during the contest, more than the 30.3 they average per game.
Bismarck was helped by Tyler Dunagan, who finished with one goal. Dunagan scored on the power play 18:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Bismarck. The Bobcats had gained a power play chance when Tyler Shipstad was whistled for roughing. Cullen Willox picked up the assist. Huba Sekesi also scored for Bismarck. More assists for Bismarck came via Nate Repensky, who had one.
The Minotauros racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. Minot had been averaging 13.0 minutes in penalties per game. The 27 shots that the Minotauros put on net surpassed Minot's average of 23.3 shots per game this season.
The Minotauros were helped by Tanner Holmquist, who grabbed one goal. Holmquist scored 13:12 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Tim Donohue provided the assist. Minot also got a goal from Jon Lizotte as well. Other players who recorded assists for Minot were Colton Kramer and Beau Ricketts, who contributed one a piece.
Aaron Nelson made 25 saves for Bismarck on 27 shots. The Bobcats registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Brandon Wildung rejected 37 shots on goal for Minot.
