Eagles Deal McDowell to Bobcats

December 13, 2013 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Soo Eagles News Release

Soo Eagles have dealt their leading goal-scorer to the Bismarck Bobcats in a North American Hockey League trade that was finalized on Tuesday.

The Eagles have moved Jacob McDowell, a well-travelled, 1993 birth year forward, to Bismarck for future considerations.

McDowell, who is in his third NAHL season, had 10 goals in 28 games for the Eagles thus far this 2013-2014 campaign.

McDowell, who has also played for the erstwhile Fresno Monsters and the dormant Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, has totalled 37 goals in 138 career games in the NAHL.

Eagles coach-general manager Bruno Bragagnolo explained the trading of McDowell.

"He's been struggling of late and him being a 1993, we want to give more playing time to some of our younger players," Bragagnolo said evenly.

Having noted that, Bragagnolo did not discount the possibility of the Eagles using McDowell's roster spot to bring in another veteran skater.

"We'll see," said Bragagnolo. "For now, this is about providing Jake with a fresh start in Bismarck and moving some of our younger players into the lineup."

The Eagles, who are last in the six-team NAHL North Division with 23 points from a record of 9-14-5, are 1-1-1 in their last three outings.

The Eagles are home to the third-place Michigan Warriors this Friday (7:30) and Saturday (7:00) at Pullar Stadium.
