Poulsen's Goals Lift Topeka to 3-1 Victory over Amarillo

Behind a great game by Tyler Poulsen, who had two goals, the Topeka RoadRunners defeated the Amarillo Bulls, 3-1.

Poulsen's tallies came on the power play at 9:21 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Topeka and 19:23 into the third to make the score 3-1 Topeka.

Topeka was led by goalie PJ Bridges, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Bridges will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.53.

The RoadRunners pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 12 penalty minutes.

Topeka put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Amarillo to score on any of its six power plays. By firing 29 shots on goal, the RoadRunners exceeded the 26.2 shots they average per game this year.

Michal Uhrik also scored for Topeka. Other players who recorded assists for Topeka were Jake Kamrass, who had two and Avni Berisha, James Ring, and Jerad Tafoya, who each chipped in one.

The Bulls' offense operated below they season average. Amarillo averages 3.4 goals per game.

The Bulls were led by Carter Penzien, who scored the team's only goal. Penzien scored 15:37 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Topeka. Brendan Vetter picked up the assist.

Topeka registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Paul Berrafato recorded 26 saves for Amarillo. The Bulls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
