Bishop Named WPC Player of the Month

The Peoria Rivermen announced today that goaltender Ben Bishop has been named the World Painting Company Player of the Month for November. Over his eight games in November, Bishop went 5-3-0 with a 2.22 goals-against average and a 0.929 save percentage. His two shutouts were tied with Leland Irving (Abbotsford) for most in the American Hockey League in November.

Bishop stopped all 37 shots against the Rockford IceHogs on Nov. 12 to kick off a three-game winning streak. He stopped nine out of 10 shooters to post back-to-back shootout wins against Hamilton (Nov. 15) and Lake Erie (Nov. 17). Six of his eight starts this month were on the road including his 28-save shutout of Chicago on Nov. 27.

Overall this season Bishop is 9-5-1 with a 2.26 GAA and 0.928 sv%. He ranks ninth in the AHL in goals-against average while his 428 saves are third most in the league. His three shutouts overall are tied for the league lead and his 90.0% success rate in the shootout is fifth best.

The 6'7", 215-pound native of St. Louis was originally drafted in the third round, 85th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
