Syracuse Crunch News Release
Glens Falls, NY (November 30, 2011) - The Syracuse Crunch fell to the Adirondack Phantoms by a score of 4-3 Wednesday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
Things got off to a fast start with the Phantoms taking a 1-0 lead just one minute into the contest. The Phantoms goal was scored on their first shot of the night, by center Ben Holmstrom and assisted by Mike Testwuide.
The Crunch tied the game with 4:19 remaining in the first frame with a goal from Peter Holland. A shot from J.F. Jacques hit the crossbar creating a scramble in front of Phantoms goalie Michael Leighton and Holland was able to capitalize on the loose puck to score his fifth goal of the season.
The Phantoms regained their lead just 26 seconds later with a goal from former Crunch forward Tom Sestitio and would go into the first intermission leading 2-1.
At the end of a flurry of penalties to both teams, Bryan Rodney scored at even-strength to tie the game 2-2. Rodney's goal, scored 10:36 into the second stanza, was assisted by Holland and Mathieu Carle.
The score didn't hold up long, for the second time, the Phantoms struck back in under a minute to regain the lead. Twenty seconds into a Rick Schofield delay of game penalty, Phantoms left wing Tye McGinn scored a power-play goal to put the Phantoms up 3-2.
With the rest of his line going off for a change, Nick Bonino found himself all alone against four Phantoms defenders but was able to blast a shot past Leighton to tie the game 3-3 with 7:51 remaining in the third.
Jason Akeson answered back for the Phantoms scoring the game-winning goal with 5:12 to play.
