KODAK, Ten. - It took a combined 16 innings, but the Biscuits (66-37) swept the Tennessee Smokies (43-59) in a doubleheader on Wednesday night at Smokies Stadium, taking game one, 3-0, and game two, 4-3 (9), to win their 15th series of the season.

Paul Campbell (6-2) was on the mound in the first game of the twin bill, and after a scoreless first, the 23-year-old ran into trouble in the second as the Smokies loaded the bases with only one out. The number nine hitter Connor Myers, who was hitting .386 against the Biscuits this season entering the at-bat, skied out to right and Thomas Milone gunned down Jared Young at the plate on the potential sac fly for an inning-ending double play.

Thomas Hatch shut down the Biscuits through the first three innings on the other side, before Ben Hecht took over and did the same in the fourth and fifth. In the bottom of the fifth, Christian Donahue reached first on a dropped third strike, and then stole second and took third on a throwing error by Biscuits catcher David Rodriguez. Donahue was at third with nobody out, but a flyout to center by Gioskar Amaya, a strikeout by Myers, and a groundout by Roberto Caro ensured that Campbell kept the shutout intact.

The Biscuits finally got their breakthrough in the sixth. After a pair of one-out singles by Milone and Vidal Brujan, Josh Lowe delivered a sac fly to deep center off Oscar De La Cruz (3-4) to make it 1-0, before Brett Sullivan's opposite-field two-run homer to left made it 3-0. Phoenix Sanders then came on in the seventh, and closed things out for the righty's 14th save and the Biscuits Southern League-leading 16th shutout win.

Matt Krook opened for the 13th time in game two of the doubleheader, and got three runs of support in the second inning from a pair of RBI-doubles from Jim Haley and Rene Pinto, as well as an RBI-single from Milone to make it 3-0 Biscuits.

The Smokies would battle back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the second thanks to a couple of RBI-doubles from Charcer Burks and Myers, as well as a sac fly from Amaya to knot things up at three apiece.

Neither team mustered another hit until the ninth, when Haley delivered the game-winning RBI-single on a busted-bat flair into left that put the Biscuits up for good at 4-3. Tyler Zombro polished things off in the bottom of the ninth for his eighth save after Brian Shaffer, Ivan Pelaez, Ian Gardeck, and Jhonleider Salinas (1-1) combined to throw 6.1 shutout innings.

The Biscuits will try to make it five in a row on Thursday when Kenny Rosenberg (9-1) takes on Alex Lange (2-2) at 6:00 PM CT.

The Biscuits will return to Riverwalk Stadium for a 10-game home stand on Saturday, July 27 when it will be Christmas in July & MAX Fireworks. The first five games will be against the Birmingham Barons, and the last five will be against the Chattanooga Lookouts.

The rest of the 10-game home stand will include a Lil' Crumbs Dress Like a Player Wristband Giveaway on Sunday, July 28; Tiger Night featuring a T-Shirt Giveaway on Thursday, August 1; BBQ Bash featuring a Grill Set Giveaway & MAX Fireworks on Friday, August 2; International Beer Day & MAX Fireworks on Saturday, August 3; And Lil' Crumbs Dress Like a Player Backpack Giveaway on Sunday, August 4.
