Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Taylor Motter's two-run double in the seventh inning was the difference in the Biscuits'(1-1) comeback 5-4 win over the Birmingham Barons (1-1) on Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

The Biscuits entered the seventh inning trailing 4-2. Richie Shaffer worked a full count then crushed a solo blast off of Nestor Molina to make it a one-run game. Three batters later, with runners on second and third, Motter drove in the tying and go-ahead runs with a double down the line to give the Biscuits a 5-4 lead.

Santiago Garrido (1) got two quick outs to start the ninth. After Micah Johnson singled to center, the 2013 Minor League stolen base leader was thrown out trying to swipe second to end the game. Garrido earned the save.

The Biscuits pen had another strong showing. Matt Lollis (1-0) went 1.1 innings of scoreless-baseball for the win while the entire pen combined to throw four innings without surrendering a run.

The Biscuits trailed 4-0 after two and a half innings. In the bottom of the third, Motter scored on a wild pitch then Willie Argo tripled-in a run to bring the Biscuits within two.

Nestor Molina (0-1) was tagged with the loss after surrendering three runs and only retiring one batter.

Game three between the Biscuits and Barons is Saturday night at 6:35. RHP Jared Mortensen will be on the mound for the Biscuits while the Barons will send out LHP Scott Snodgress.
