Biscuits Lose Opener in 14 Innings

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Biscuits (60-61, 23-28) and Jackson Generals (52-63, 23-25) combined to strand 29 runners on base and go 1-for-25 with runners in scoring position in a 2-1 loss for the Biscuits in 14 innings Tuesday night at Generals Park.

The Generals got the 14th started with a one-out single from John Hicks followed by a single from Gabriel Noriega that moved Hicks to third. Chris Taylor then grounded a ball to third that hit off of Robby Price's glove and allowed Hicks to score the winning run.

The Biscuits were able to tie the game at one in the eighth inning. Shawn O'Malley started the frame with a triple. After two quick outs, Cameron Seitzer drove O'Malley in with a double to left.

Victor Mateo went 7.2 innings for the no-decision. The righty struck out six while the only run he allowed came by a fifth inning, solo home run from Jabari Blash.

The Biscuits went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left a season-high 16 runners on base.

Game two is Wednesday night at 7:05. The Biscuits have not yet announced their starter while the Generals will have LHP Anthony Fernandez on the mound.
