Knoxville Smokies News Release
KODAK, Tenn. - The Chicago Cubs announced several transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Tennessee Smokies. C Chad Noble and RHP Armando Rivero have been placed on the Smokies' active roster. In corresponding roster moves, LHP Jeff Antigua has been promoted to the Class AAA Iowa Cubs and C Taylor Davis has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 13.
The Smokies roster is still at 25 active players, which is the Southern League maximum.
Noble, 25, returns to the Smokies for the third time this season. In 28 games with Tennessee, the right-handed catcher holds a .242 batting average (22-for-91) with six doubles and seven RBIs. He started the 2013 campaign with the Class High-A Daytona Cubs, where he hit .228 (21-for-92) with a home run and six RBIs in 27 games. The Rockwell, Texas native was selected by the Cubs in the 37th round of the 2010 draft out of Northwestern University.

This season in the Cubs organization, the right-handed reliever has no record with a 4.98 ERA (12 ER/21.2 IP) splitting time between Low-A Kane County and Daytona. The Cubs signed the Cuban native as a non-drafted free agent this past March.
Davis, 23, hit .333 (1-for-3) with a RBI in his only appearance with the Smokies this season. He hit .217 (18-for-83) with a pair of home runs and eight RBIs with Daytona to start the 2013 campaign. The Jupiter, Fla. native signed with the Cubs as a non-drafted free agent out of Morehead State in 2011.

This season, the Santo Domingo, D.R. native holds a combined 8-2 record with a save and a 3.12 ERA (24 ER/69.1 IP) in 30 outings (one start) with four different teams in the Cubs organization.
