Mississippi Braves News Release
PEARL, MS - The 2014 season marks a major milestone in Mississippi Braves history as the Double-A Braves are set to celebrate a decade in Mississippi. The M-Braves are scheduled to open the 2014 season with a five-game series against the Mobile BayBears on Thursday, April 3 at Trustmark Park.
Since making the move from Greenville, SC, in 2005, Mississippi fans have seen over 75 former M-Braves make their Major League debuts and 13 of those were called up directly from Double-A Mississippi. The M-Braves have made it to the playoffs twice and won the 2008 Southern League Championship. As the M-Braves celebrate 10 years in Mississippi, the club will also welcome its two-millionth fan during the 2014 season.
The 2014 season features 70 games at Trustmark Park and 70 games on the road during the 140-game regular season. After the opening five-game homestand, the M-Braves take a day off and travel to Jackson, TN, for five games against the Generals. The M-Braves return to Trustmark Park for a five-game series against the Huntsville Stars with the series finale scheduled for Good Friday.
Mississippi hits the road for 10 games against the Montgomery Biscuits and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos before finishing the month of April at home against the Jacksonville Suns. The Braves face the Suns through May 4 and then travel to Mobile. Mid-May features a 10-game homestand against the Biscuits and the Tennessee Smokies. The Braves visit Chattanooga before concluding the month at home against the Blue Wahoos. That series starts with a Memorial Day contest at Trustmark Park.
June gets kicked off at Montgomery. The M-Braves return home for five games against the Chattanooga Lookouts before concluding the first half of the season at Smokies Park in Kodak, TN. The Southern League teams take three days off for the All-Star Break June 16-18. The 2014 Southern League All-Star Game takes place at AT&T Field in Chattanooga.
The second half of the season begins at Trustmark Park with a five-game series against the Jackson Generals. The M-Braves then travel to Birmingham for the first meeting of the season with the Barons. June wraps up and July starts at home against the Huntsville Stars with the final game of the series scheduled for July 3, the M-Braves annual Independence Day Celebration.
The M-Braves host the BayBears July 10-14 before hitting the road for 10 games. Mississippi returns for a 10-game homestand July 26 through August 4 against Pensacola and Mobile. The final two series at Trustmark Park are slated for August 12-16 against Montgomery and August 22-26 against Birmingham. The M-Braves conclude the 2014 regular season Labor Day Weekend at Huntsville.
