PEARL, MS - The Biscuits (8-12) exploded for 17 runs as Shane Dyer made the deepest outing of the season for the Biscuits in a 17-2 thrashing of the Mississippi Braves (6-14) to score a series win Wednesday afternoon at Trustmark Park.

The 17 runs were the most scored by the Biscuits since they put up a franchise-record 20 against Jacksonville in 2005, and the win gives them their first three-game win streak of the year.

Cole Figueroa began the game with a triple in a first inning that saw the Biscuits score three. They'd score six times in the third to make it 9-0, chasing Mississippi starter Tim Gustafson from the game. After a run in the sixth and two in the seventh, they added five more against Mississippi third baseman CJ Rethorford who pitched the ninth to save the bullpen from having to work any further.

All nine in the Biscuits lineup recorded at least one hit, and all but two drove home at least one run. Figueroa, Daniel Mayora, and John Matulia all collected three hits with Tim Beckham and Henry Wrigley knocking two. Nevin Ashley hit his third homer of the season.

Shane Dyer (1-0) was fantastic for the Biscuits, becoming the first starter to go into the seventh this season. He wound up allowed two runs on five hits while striking out one and walking none in six-plus. After going 24 straight games without a starter scoring a win, the Biscuits have had their starter get the win in back-to-back games. Neil Schenk and Matt Bush combined for 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.

The Biscuits return home for a five-game series with the Jacksonville Suns beginning Thursday night at 7:05 as Evan Longoria joins the Biscuits for a rehab assignment.
