
Mudcats Lose 5-1 To Chattanooga

Zebulon, NC --- Kyle Russell had three hits, including a pair of doubles and three RBI to lead Chattanooga to a 5-1 victory over the Carolina Mudcats at Five County Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Lookouts (12-8), who claimed the series 3-2, tied the game 1-1 in the fourth inning, then Russell drilled a double against the left-centerfield wall to take a 2-1 advantage. Chattanooga then scored three runs against reliever Jeff Jeffords over 1 1/3 innings to pull away. Will Savage (W, 2-0) allowed just two hits over six innings to earn the victory.
David Cook hit a solo homer in the second inning against Savage to put Carolina (5-15) up 1-0. Matt Klinker (L, 0-1) pitched six innings, allowing just three hits and a run in his first game back with the Mudcats from Triple-A Louisville.
Mike Costanzo went 2-3 to extend his hitting streak to 10 games.
The Mudcats finished their 10-game homestand 4-6, and open a series at Smokies Park on Thursday night at 7:15 PM ET with Travis Webb on the mound.
