Generals, BayBears Double-Header Postponed Wednesday

JACKSON, TENN. (April 26, 2011) - The scheduled double-header between the Jackson Generals and Mobile BayBears, today at 11:05 AM has been cancelled due to the torrential rain and storms in Jackson overnight and today. The games will be made up with two double-headers during the Generals, BayBears series, May 25-29, in Mobile. The exact dates are to be determined. Normal rain check rules apply with any fans that had tickets to last night or today's games.

The Generals are rained out for the second straight day and will open up a series on Thursday night, in Chattanooga, at 6:15 PM CDT. The game tomorrow night will mark the first time Jackson has faced a North Division team this season. The cancellations mark the end of the tour of the Southern League South Division. The Generals faced off against Mississippi, Jacksonville, Montgomery and Mobile to begin the season 8-10. Jackson is 4.5 games back of Huntsville and Tennessee in the North Division.

The starter on Thursday night for the Generals has not been determined. The probable starter for Chattanooga is LHP Patrick Corbin (0-0, 5.06).

WHO'S HOT: Jake Shaffer ranks 5th in the Southern League in batting with a .370 batting average. He leads the league with 30 hits and is 2nd in the league in total bases, with 47. He also carries an 11-game hitting streak into this today's game, which is the longest active streak in the league. The longest was Huntsville's Sean Halton, who had a 12-game hit streak. Shaffer has hit in 16 of his first 17 starts. Luis Jimenez has three homers and ten-RBI in his first six games and a .320 AVG. Erasmo Ramirez is 10th in the SL, with a 2.37 ERA. He is 1st in the league, with a 0.47 BB/9IP. Ramirez has just walked one batter in 19 innings (3 starts). Kyle Seager is 10-for-24 (.417 AVG), with 8 RBI in his last five games.
