ZEBULON, NC - The Carolina Mudcats (20-25) were unable to convert a bases loaded, nobody out situation in the bottom of the ninth, and the Biscuits (24-22) never trailed in a 6-4 win Thursday at Five County Stadium.

Zach Quate (19) walked the leadoff man in the ninth before Quinton Berry and Henry Rodriguez both reached on bunt singles to load the bases. But Quate would then retire three-through-five in the Mudcats order, including a strikeout of the league's active home run leader Neftali Soto to hold on.

A four-run third keyed the offensive attack, with all four scoring with two out. Cole Figueroa started the scoring with an RBI-single. Henry Wrigley extended his hit-streak to a team-best eight straight with a two-run double, and John Shelby also brough a man in with a double. A Greg Sexton RBI-triple one inning later made it 5-0 before the Mudcats rallied for four-straight to get back into the game.

Jim Paduch (3-4) got the win for the Biscuits, allowing four runs on nine hits while fanning seven over five innings. James Avery (5-11) last only four innings for Carolina in his league-leading 11th defeat.

Sexton led the Biscuits with two hits on the night.

RHP Chris Archer will go for the Biscuits in game two Friday at 6:15 against Carolina RHP Josh Ravin.
