Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (72-40) snapped a two-game skid with a well-played 8-2 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts (49-61) on Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
Josh Fleming (11-4), who was coming off of his historical back-to-back nine-inning complete games, started again for the Biscuits and kept the Lookouts off the board through the first three innings thanks to an incredible F9-2 inning-ending double play in the second thanks to a missile unleashed by Josh Lowe from right to nail Jonathan India at the plate. Fleming threw a quality start, allowing just two runs over six innings to win for the sixth time in his last seven appearances.
Brad Markey (1-3) started on the other side for the Lookouts, and after the Biscuits left the bases loaded in the first, they cracked the right-hander in the second thanks to an RBI-double by Taylor Walls to make it 1-0.
An inning later, the Biscuits exploded for four runs with two outs thanks to a Miles Mastrobuoni solo homer, a Carl Chester RBI-single, and then a two-run homer by David Rodriguez to make it a 5-0 game.
Chattanooga would finally get to Fleming in the fourth on an India sac fly and a Tyler Stephenson RBI-single, but a Brett Sullivan sac fly in the sixth created some more breathing room for the Biscuits at 6-2.
Jhonleider Salinas came on for Fleming in the seventh and loaded the bases with two walks and a single, but still struck out the side and kept the lead intact. An E7 by Lookouts left fielder Brantley Bell in the eighth on a screamer off Wall's bat brought two more runs across and made it 8-2. Tyler Zombro then entered and struck out the side in the top of the eighth, and Ian Gardeck did the same in the ninth.
The Biscuits will try to make it back-to-back victories on Saturday when Paul Campbell (6-3) clashes with Packy Naughton (5-7) at 6:05 PM CT when it will be International Beer Day & MAX Fireworks. The series will also include a Lil' Crumbs Dress Like a Player Backpack Giveaway on Sunday, August 4.
