Jackson Generals News Release

Vs. Mobile BayBears (41-67 Overall, 14-26 Second Half)
Friday, August 2 | 6:05 pm CT | Game 109 | 2nd Half Game 39
Generals SP: RHP Matt Peacock, 7-3, 2.40 ERA
Opponent SP: LHP Greg Mahle, 0-1, 1.59 ERA
LAST GAME: Jackson, Tenn. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, used a fantastic effort from Cole Stapler (3-0, 3.25 ERA) to pace a 6-0 defeat of the Mobile BayBears on Thursday at The Ballpark at Jackson. The win for Jackson (61-47) is their eighth this season against Mobile (41-67), ensuring that they will win the season series against the BayBears. Full Recap: JacksonGeneralsBaseball.com
TODAY'S PITCHING MATCHUP: Right-hander Matt Peacock just completed an outstanding month of July, going 4-0 with a 1.41 ERA and a .143 opponents' batting average across 32.0 innings. Four of his five July starts, including his most recent outing against Biloxi, featured six or more innings or work with one or fewer earned runs allowed. He faces left-hander Greg Mahle, who sports 24 career MLB appearances. Mahle allowed one earned run in his previous start for Mobile, lasting five and two-thirds innings in a loss to Mississippi last Sunday.
MOVING OUT, CONTINUED: We noted previously that the Arizona Diamondbacks made a prospect-for-prospect deal at the MLB Trade Deadline on July 31, sending Jackson shortstop Jazz Chisholm to the Miami Marlins in exchange for rookie Marlins pitcher Zac Gallen. To replace Chisholm, Galli Cribbs Jr. figures to play a lot of shortstop, and the D-backs' promotion of infielder Camden Duzenack from High-A Visalia will help as well. Duzenack hit 18 homers in 91 games at Visalia this year. Chisholm, meanwhile, homered and tripled in his first game with Double-A Jacksonville last night, and he will return to face the Generals in the season's final series at The Ballpark at Jackson.
NEW BREW: The promotion of left-fielder Jamie Westbrook to Triple-A Reno on August 1 opened up a spot in left field for the Generals. Good thing, too, as the Arizona Diamondbacks' trade of Zack Greinke to the Houston Astros brought back four high-level prospects in return, one of which figures to be the Generals' new left fielder. Seth Beer, a Clemson alum who was the Astros' first-round pick in 2018, should be a staple in the Jackson lineup in August after coming over in the Greinke trade. Beer batted .309 with 25 home runs in 98 games before his arrival, splitting time between High-A and Double-A at both first base and in left field. He's currently the D-backs' #4 prospect and the #100 prospect in MILB.
ALL-STAR 2020: On July 29, the Jackson Generals announced that they would play host to the 2020 Southern League All-Star Game at The Ballpark at Jackson, their first All-Star Game since 2011. Manager Blake Lalli was a participant in that 2011 game, which the North Division won 6-3. (CLICK: 2020 SL ASG release)
