Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - In a game that featured five lead-changes and four ties, a Willie Argo two-run triple in the seventh and a three-hit, four-RBI night from Curt Casali was the difference in a 10-7 win for the Biscuits (13-7) over the Mississippi Braves (7-13) Wednesday night at Riverwalk.
Casali's night started with an RBI-double in the second inning to give the Biscuits a 3-2 lead. He then crushed a homer to lead off the fifth inning to tie the game at four. A two-run double from Casali gave the Biscuits a 6-4 lead. Casali walked in his other two at-bats.
With the game tied at six in the seventh inning and runners on first and second, shortstop Elmer Reyes bobbled a groundball which kept the inning alive for Argo who would belt a 1-2 pitch down the right field line to score two runs and give the Biscuits an 8-6 lead. Taylor Motter's two-run double in the eighth inning gave the Biscuits a 10-7 lead and finally put the game out of reach.
The Braves led 2-0 after one inning and 4-3 after four innings. Montgomery tied it in the first with RBI from Cameron Seitzer and Richie Shaffer.
The Biscuits outscored the Braves 7-3 in the final 4.5 innings despite the Braves finishing with a season-high 14 hits.
Santiago Garrido (1-1) picked up his first win while Braulio Lara (2) went the final 1.2 innings without allowing a run for his second save.
The Biscuits will open up a five-game series with the Jacksonville Suns at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville on Thursday night at 6:05. RH Victor Mateo will face-off with the suns for the first time since no-hitting Jacksonville last year. Jacksonville will have RH Anthony DeSclafani on the mound.
