Mississippi Braves News Release

Montgomery, AL - The Mississippi Braves and Montgomery Biscuits battled late into Wednesday night at Riverwalk Stadium, with the Biscuits pulling away late for a 10-7 see-saw win.

With the game tied at 6 in the seventh, Willie Argo hit a two-run two-out triple to break the tie for good.

The Braves (7-13) and Biscuits (13-7) went back and forth all night long, with four different ties and five lead changes. On what was billed as a battle of two top prospect starters, JR Graham for the Braves and Grayson Garvin for the Biscuits made it just a combined 2 1/3 innings.

Garvin hit back-to-back batters in the top of the first and exited due to injury. Reliever Matt Neil came on and gave up back to back RBI singles to Seth Loman and Elmer Reyes, giving the Braves an early 2-0 lead.

The Biscuits came right back against Graham, who hit Argo then gave up a single to Joey Rickard and a walk to Curt Casali. With the bases loaded, Cameron Seitzer walked in a run and Richie Shaffer singled to tie it at 2-2.

The Biscuits took their first lead 3-2 in the second inning when Rickard reached on an error by shortstop Elmer Reyes and Casali drove him in with a double.

Graham was chased after two innings, allowing three runs- two earned- on three hits, walking three and striking out two. After Graham came Chasen Shreve, Lay Batista, Ronan Pacheco and Ryne Harper in relief.

The Braves came back in the bottom of the third to tie it 3-3. David Rohm tripled with one out and Reyes hit a two-out double to drive him home. Then in the fourth, they regained the lead 4-3 after Robby Hefflinger tripled and Gustavo Nunez singled him in.

Casali came through over and over for the Biscuits on Wednesday. In the fifth inning, he tied the game 4-4 with a solo home run, his first of the year. Then in the sixth, he clubbed a two-run double to make it 6-4 Montgomery. Casali finished the day 3-3 with two walks and four RBI.

The Braves wouldn't go away, though. Emerson Landoni led off the seventh with a double and Loman followed with one of his own to drive him in. Then Kubitza singled to left-center to score Loman and tie the game again 6-6. But it was tied for the last time.

After Argo's tie-breaking triple, Landoni pulled the Braves close again with a solo home run in the eighth, but the Biscuits put it away with a Taylor Motter two-run double in the eighth to make it 10-7.

Santiago Garrido (1-1) blew a save but picked up the win, throwing an inning of relief work and allowing a run. Ronan Pacheco (2-1) suffered the loss for the Braves, allowing four runs on two hits in two innings. Braulio Lara picked up his second save for the Biscuits.

The loss was the fourth for the Braves in the five-game series.

Now the M-Braves travel to Pensacola to continue their ten-game road trip, with game one against the Blue Wahoos scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 PM CT. Mississippi will throw right-hander David Bromberg (0-2, 2.70) against right-hander Carlos Contreras (1-1, 3.75).
