
Birmingham Defeats Rio Grande Valley 109-90 in Early Friday Tip

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Malcolm Hill's game-high 33 points led all scorers in the Birmingham Squadron's 109-90 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Friday at Legacy Arena at the BJCC.
Hill has now scored at least 30 points in two consecutive games. Tevian Jones recorded his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds in his third start of the young campaign.
UAB product Trey Jemison brought in 16 rebounds for the second time this season and tallied eight points in the winning effort for the Squadron.
Rookie and fourth-overall NBA draft pick Amen Thompson tallied 14 for the Vipers, who were led by Houston Rockets assignment player Cam Whitmore's 20. Nate Hinton paced Rio Grande Valley in the rebounding column with 11 boards.
Birmingham and Rio Grande Valley matchup again tomorrow for the second game of the back-to-back with tip-off set for 7 p.m. at Legacy Arena at the BJCC.
