
Birds sweep double header

Delmarva Shorebirds News Release
Delmarva picked up a pair of wins Thursday night over the northern division first half winner Lake County, 7-2 and 4-3. Game one was a completion of the August 9th game started in Eastlake, Ohio.
The Shorebirds had a 2-0 lead coming into game one and scored four runs in the seventh inning led by a Wally Crancer two RBI double. Paco Figueroa had three hits in the game and scored a run. Rob Neigebauer picked up the win in relief allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and struck out two in five innings.
In game two Delmarva jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning led by Joe Nowicki, he drove in two runs in the first and one more in the second inning. Joe Esposito pitched a strong three innings in relief to earn the win for the âBirds.
The two teams play for the final time in 2008 Friday night at 7:05 at Perdue Stadium.
