'Birds Stop Hottest Team in SAL, Beat 'Dads 8-3

The Delmarva Shorebirds pounded out 10 hits and eight runs in the first three innings and held on for a 8-3 victory over the Crawdads Tuesday afternoon at L. P. Frans Stadium in Hickory, NC. The Shorebirds snapped a three game losing streak and ended the eight game winning streak of the 'Dads.

Lorenzo Scott hit a two out, two RBI triple in the second inning giving the 'Birds a 2-0 lead. Delmarva came back with a six run top of the third inning, starting with four consecutive hits including a two run homerun by Vito Chiaravalloti, his first since joining the Shorebirds. Kyle Dahlberg and Quincy Ascencion added RBI singles and Blake Davis drove in a run on a triple. Arturo Rivas went 3-5 and scored a run. Scott, Davis and Ascencion had two hits for Delmarva.

Hickory scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning on RBI hits by Andrew McCutchen and Jason Delaney.

Delmarva head to Greensboro, NC to finish the road trip starting Wednesday evening.
