Rome, GA - The thermometer on the scoreboard said 100 degrees at game time, but it was the Greenville Drive who put the heat on the Rome Braves winning 6-4 in front of 2,840 fans at State Mutual Stadium. .

The Drive got on the scoreboard first in the top of the second inning as Beau Jones issued a bases loaded walk to Drive second baseman Dominic Ramos that allowed Tony Granadillo to trot home making the score 1-0. Greenville would add to their lead in the top of the fifth as Mark Wagner walked, moved to second on a single by right fielder Luis Soto, and scored on a double by Chris Turner increasing the lead 2-0. Soto, who had advanced to third on the double by Turner, would score on a wild pitch by Jones giving the Drive a 3-0 advantage.

The Braves would answer back quickly in the bottom of the fifth as Jordan Schafer reached on an error by Ramos and would cross the plate on a Derrick Arnold triple cutting the deficit to 3-1. Leadoff hitter Ovandy Suero would then exhibit his speed as he slapped a single to left field that Chris Turner would misplay and let roll to the wall. Suero made the miscue hurt as he not only knocked in Arnold, but also circled the bases himself tying the game at three apiece.

The Drive would take the lead back in the top of the seventh as Granadillo and Turner stroked back to back singles. Logan Sorensen would then get a base hit that would plate Granadillo and allow Greenville to regain the lead 4-3. Turner would complete the scoring in the inning as he scored on a fielder's choice by shortstop Christian Lara making the score 5-4, a lead they would not relinquish. The Braves would add a run in the seventh and the Drive would add an insurance run in the ninth making the final score 6-4.

Drive pitcher Hunter Jones (2-5) would pick up the win in relief tossing two innings while giving up one earned run. Rome reliever Adam Stanley (1-5) was tagged with the loss going an inning and a third and giving up two earned. Jason Blackey picked up the save for the Drive.
