Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
Kannapolis, NC—Kannapolis (8-17) lost to Savannah (13-13), by a final score of 5-4, Tuesday at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
The Intimidators nabbed an early 1-0 lead in the 1st on an RBI single from Fernando Valenzuela, which plated Paulo Orlando. The hit marked the 4th straight game in which the I's scored in the 1st. The I's made it 2-0 in the 4th on an RBI double cranked by Brent Metheny to score Valenzuela. Both teams traded runs over the next two innings, which included a solo shot to right from Valenzuela. Birthday boy Ricky Brooks departed from the mound after the 6th, with the 4-2 lead. However, Savannah stormed back for 3 runs scattered over the final two frames to notch the 5-4 victory. Jacobo Meque (2-2) won the game for Savannah. Rudy Garza picked up his first save. John Wesley of Kannapolis (0-2) suffered the loss.
Kannapolis opens up a 4-game series with Rome on Thursday at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. Intimidators LHP Clayton Richard gets the start. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05am.
