MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis shut out Nashville 3-0 Thursday night at AutoZone Park behind starter Chuckie Fick and three relievers.
Fick turned in five scoreless innings for the Redbirds to earn his second Triple-A win beating Nashville for the second time. The right-hander fanned four and scattered four hits in the victory. The âBirds bullpen was unhittable over four innings with Rich Rundles, Josh Kinney and Fernando Salas combining to finish off Memphis' fifth shutout win of the year. Kinney struck out four batters in his two innings and Salas struck out two batters to earn his 15th save of the year. Nashville starter Chase Wright took the loss allowing one run on four hits over six innings.
The Redbirds claimed the lead in the fifth inning on Jim Rapoport's sacrifice fly and extended the lead in the seventh with two runs on no hits. Rapoport drew a bases loaded walk and Ruben Gotay knocked in the second run in the inning on a fielder's choice.
Memphis and Nashville will play two seven-inning games tomorrow night beginning at 6:05 p.m. The Redbirds send Lance Lynn to the hill in the first game to face Sounds right-hander Marty McLeary. Oneli Perez gets the call for the âBirds in the second game against Nashville's Tim Dillard.
