Game Keys - Iowa Cubs starter Casey Coleman limited the Zephyrs to one run on six hits and earned his eighth win of the season as the Cubs defeated the Zephyrs 4-1 at Principal Park. Jim Adduci slapped a two out two RBI single in the fifth inning to break a scoreless tie. The Cubs added another run with a Darwin Barney RBI single. Coleman scattered the six hits and struck-out eight Zephyrs to earn the win. Zephyr starter Tom Mastny pitched well in the defeat. He worked six innings, allowed 3 runs on six hits. It was his first loss of the season. Blake Parker pitched the final two innings to earn the save.
Game Notes- Gookie Dawkins singled in the 7th inning to extend his hitting streak to a season best 11 games. The Z's have dropped three in a row and have fallen tow two games under .500. Chris Volsted is expected to join the team on Friday in Des Moines and start Sundays game. Lebron James leaves the Cleveland and will join the Miami Heat.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Iowa Cubs will meet in a doubleheader on Friday afternoon starting at 5. The first game is a make up from a rain out on June 28th in New Orleans. The Z's will be the home team, even though the game is in Iowa. Rick VandenHurk and Jorge Sosa will get the nod for the Zephyrs.
