Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Ryan Garko's 12th-inning, one-out RBI single scored Jarrod Saltalamacchia with the game-winning run as the Oklahoma City RedHawks edged the Round Rock Express in Thursday night's series opener at The Dell Diamond. The Express (37-51) suffered their 25th one-run loss of the season and their seventh loss in extra innings. The RedHawks (47-38) lead the season series 4-1, winning each of the last four meetings.

Saltalamacchia led off the 12th with a single to right-center and moved to second on Matt Brown's sacrifice bunt. Garko fell behind 0-2 before delivering the game-winning hit down the right-field line. It was the ninth time in the game that a batter fell behind 0-2 and still got a hit, the fifth time by an Oklahoma City batter.

Clay Rapada pitched a perfect bottom of the 12th for the save, his second. Warner Madrigal (2-0) worked around a leadoff single for a scoreless 11th to earn the win. Starter Guillermo Moscoso allowed four runs on six hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 5.0 innings.

Jonah Bayliss (1-3) took the loss, his second in extra innings. He allowed one run on three hits and a walk with one strikeout over 2.0 innings. Starter Josh Banks worked 6.2 innings and allowed three runs on nine hits and no walks with three strikeouts; he left with a three-run lead but was denied his ninth win.

Brian Bogusevic started the scoring with a two-out solo homer in the third. Oklahoma City answered in the fifth on Mitch Moreland's two-run double. Garko hit a two-out solo homer in the sixth, giving the RedHawks a 3-1 lead.

The Express bounced back, though, batting around in a five-run sixth. Matt Kata started the rally with a two-run double, and Drew Locked scored him with a triple. German Duran then doubled in Locke as the Express collected five consecutive hits. Collin DeLome capped the inning with a run-scoring single that plated Duran. It was the highest-scoring fifth inning this season for the Express, who fell to 18-6 when scoring at least four runs in an inning.

That three-run lead did not hold, though. The RedHawks pulled to within a run in the eighth with two runs on three hits off reliever Roy Corcoran. Gregorio Petit plated both runs with a two-out single. Endy Chavez doubled off Gary Majewski to open the ninth and moved to third on a Mitch Moreland groundout. Chris Davis then doubled down the left-field line, scoring Chavez with the tying run.

Round Rock had chances but stranded runners in scoring position in the ninth and 10th innings. Wladimir Sutil singled to open the 11th and moved to second on a Bogusevic sacrifice bunt; however, Sutil was doubled off second on Tommy Everidge's fly out to center, ending the inning.

Kata was 3-for-6, while Locke and Sutil each had two hits in six at bats. Eight of nine Express starters hit safely.

Garko, Brown and Petit all had three-hit nights for the RedHawks, who out-hit the Express 19-13. All nine Oklahoma City starters hit safely and seven had multiple-hit outings.

Round Rock and Oklahoma City continue the four-game series Friday with a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch at The Dell Diamond. Right-hander Sergio Perez (3-2, 4.58 ERA) will start for the Express, while southpaw Michael Kirkman (7-3, 3.43 ERA) gets the nod for the RedHawks.
