Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

LINCOLN - The Sioux Falls Canaries blew past the Lincoln Saltdogs 9-3 in the first game of a six-game road trip Friday at Haymarket Park. Tyler Garkow twirled a gem, and Jordan Ebert, Mike Hart and Logan Landon combined for eight RBI as the Canaries won their third straight.

Tyler Garkow (1-0, 2.08 ERA) was unstoppable on the mound. The righty, who made a surprise start after RHP Eddie Medina was scratched at the last minute, dazzled. He struck out seven in seven innings with no walks. He allowed just an unearned run in the sixth en route to his first win.

The offense gave him plenty of support. Ebert, a former Canary who was signed earlier Friday morning, went deep in his first professional at-bat in two years. He took Lincoln starter Walter Borkovich (0-1, 8.00 ERA) over the left field fence to give Garkow and the Birds a two-run lead in the second.

Hart, who celebrated his 27th birthday Friday, teed off in the third for a three-run blast that put the game out of reach. The home run was Hart's third in nine games this season.

Logan Landon enjoyed another impressive night at the plate. The center fielder engineered four hits and two RBI while inflating his average to .390. The Birds outhit the Saltdogs 10-5. The Canaries improved to 5-4 with the win while the Saltdogs slipped to 5-4 with the loss.

The teams will meet again Saturday at 7:05 pm. RHP Angel Ventura (0-1, 5.25 ERA) is expected to start for the Canaries. RHP Carson Lance (0-0, 9.00 ERA) is expected to start for the Saltdogs.
