
Binford & Stout Blank Travs as Offense Struggles

North Little Rock, AR - The Arkansas Travelers were blanked 3-0 by the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Saturday night at Dickey-Stephens Park.
RHP Christian Binford (W, 3-2) twirled 7.1 scoreless innings and allowed five hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.
LHP Eric Stout (S, 1) earned the save with 1.2 perfect innings and two strikeouts.
Travs starter RHP Tyler Carpenter (L, 0-1) was sharp in his Double-A debut but ran into trouble in the fifth and sixth. Carpenter, who pitched to a 0.82 ERA in five Advanced-A starts with Inland Empire, allowed the three runs on eight hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
RHP Alan Busenitz tossed 3.1 innings of scoreless relief behind Carpenter.
Naturals CF Bubba Starling ripped doubles in back-to-back plate appearances in the fifth and sixth, scored twice and drove in two runs. He also stole his seventh base of the season to improve to 7-for-7 in stolen bases this year and drew a walk.
3B Mauricio Ramos went 2-for-4 with an RBI for NWA.
No Travs player had a multi-hit game and the only extra-base hit was a RF Cal Towey double in the fourth.
Arkansas finished 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and is now 11-last-64 with RISP.
Travs 1B Eric Aguilera was ejected in the seventh for arguing a called third strike.
With the loss the Travs fell to 12-17 on the season. The two teams will play game two of the four-game series on Sunday afternoon at Dickey-Stephens Park.
