Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Iowa Energy defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 100-89 Saturday night at the Sioux Falls Arena in front of 4,493 fans. It was déjàvu all over again as Iowa overcame an 18-point first-half deficit to complete the weekend sweep.
Sioux Falls (5-12) came out strong and led by 18 points (47-29) with 4:30 to go in the first half. Iowa (12-4) went on an 11-0 spurt and only trailed 47-40 at halftime.
Iowa outscored Sioux Falls 33-15 in the third quarter behind 10 points from Andrew Drevo to take a 73-62 lead. Sioux Falls got to within eight points (90-82) with under three minutes to go but Iowa converted 6-of-8 free throws down the stretch to hand Sioux Falls their fifth straight loss.
Drevo scored a team-high 20 points to go along with eight rebounds. Nick Covington had a solid all-around game with 14 points, six rebounds and nine assists.
Anthony Mason, Jr. tied a season-high with 26 points to lead the Skyforce. Dominique Coleman posted 15 point and seven rebounds in defeat.
Both teams now head to Reno, Nev. for the 2012 NBA D-League Showcase. Sioux Falls plays Maine at noon CT on Tuesday while Iowa takes on the host Reno at 9 p.m. CT on Wednesday.
