Colorado Eagles News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Colorado Eagles (22-12-5-2) rallied to defeat the Stockton Thunder (21-15-0-5) 7-5 at Stockton Arena on Saturday night. Forward Kyle Ostrow had a five-point night including his first hat trick as an Eagle to help triumph over the Thunder and pick up two points in Stockton.
The Thunder wasted no time getting on the board; just forty seconds into the first frame forward Garet Hunt beat Eagles netminder Adam Brown to put Stockton up 1-0. Just over one minute later Stockton forward James Henry netted a rebound right off of a faceoff to gain a 2-0 lead over the Eagles. Thunder forward Sean Escobedo stuffed another puck home right off of a face off to pump the Thunder lead to 3-0, 13:49 into the first.
Eagles forward Jesse Mychan put a backhanded puck past Stockton goalie Parker Milner to cut into the Thunder's lead, 3-1, 5:12 into the second period. The Eagles would make it a one-goal game, 3-2, 12:21 into the second as Ostrow tipped a hard shot from the blue line from defenseman Jason Beatty. With less than one minute left in the period, Ostrow deflected another puck, this time from forward Trent Daavettila, to tie the game 3-3.
Stockton reclaimed the lead, 4-3, as J.P. Burkemper beat Brown five-hole less than five minutes into the final stanza. The Eagles answered as forward Kevin Ulanski tied the score at 4-4 with a power-play goal just over nine minutes into the third. The Thunder took a 5-4 lead as Henry scored his second goal of the night with 8:07 left in the contest. Daavettila tied the score, once more, 14:43 into the third, with the Eagles second power-play goal of the night. Just over two minutes left in the game Ostrow picked up his hat trick with a goal off the back of Milner's leg to give the Eagles their first lead of the game, 6-5. Finally, Daavettila scored on an empty net with the help of Ostrow to secure Colorado's big come-from-behind, 7-5 win over the Thunder. Colorado went 2-for-3 on the power play and killed off both of the Thunder power plays, contributing to the big Eagles win.
