Windsor Express News Release
(WINDSOR, ON) Windsor's 29 point lead nearly disappeared in the fourth quarter, but three clutch shots from Ryan Anderson sent the Express to a 124-112 victory over the Saint John Mill Rats on Saturday night at the WFCU Centre.
The Express dominated the first half, taking the first quarter 34-26 and following that with a 32-24 second quarter to put themselves in the drivers seat, up 15 points ahead at halftime.
The trend continued early in the third, when guard, Tony Bennett hit a jumper with six minutes left to give Windsor a game high 29 point advantage, but that's when things turned.
Saint John's guard, Darin Mency brought his team back almost single handedly, scoring 16 points in the second half, pulling the Mill Rats as close as four points in the final frame.
That's when Anderson came off the bench and knocked down three straight three pointers to end the slide and bring Windsor back up by 13.
"Ryan was an all-star last year, he can shoot the lights out." Windsor Express Head Coach and Director of Basketball Operations, Bill Jones said, "When he knocked those threes down it was tough for them to get any momentum back after that".
Anderson ended with 15 points and shot 5-for-5 from three point land.
Windsor's DeAndre Thomas muscled his way to a team high 26 points, while Quinnel Brown followed up with 24 points of his own.
Windsor is now 9-0 at the WFCU Centre this season and take their record up to 13-4, leading the Central Conference by 2.5 games over the London Lightning.
The Express now venture away from home, as they travel to Brampton for a battle with the A's on Tuesday, January 13th before a three game east coast trip next weekend.
Windsor's next home game is Wednesday, January 21th when the Express and Halifax Rainmen set up for "Clash at the Colosseum II" at Caesars Windsor.
