Miracles Pull the Plug on the Power

(Moncton, NB) The Moncton Miracles downed the Mississauga Power with a final score of 100-94 in front of 1,313 fans.

The home Moncton squad would take an early 6-0 lead in the first quarter with Trayvon Lathan and Troy Brewer back on the court. Miracles would lead for 10:37 minutes of the first but trail 22-23 at the end of the first 12 minutes of play.

The Miracles would manage to pull ahead in the second quarter and maintain the lead to finish 12-points ahead, 49-37 at the half. Troy Brewer would lead the way for the Miracles with 10 points, while Trayvon Lathan added in with 9. Chad Posthumus was the first half force for the Power with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The visiting Power would go on a run to start the third quarter and eventually take control of the scoreboard. Miracles Stanley Robinson would hit a 3 to tie the game 65-65 with just over a minute to play but Mississauga would score to end the third quarter with a 67-65 advantage.

Mississauga would continue to press forward over the Miracles and lead by as many as 7 points. With 1:18 to play Trayvon Lathan came up huge with a 3-point play to give the Miracles a 92-90 lead over the Power. The team would show no sign of slowing down and finish with the win.

Trayvon Lathan led the way for the Miracles with 26 points. Shawn Vanzant followed with 20.

Chris Matthews did not play due to an injury and is day to day.

Chad Posthumus was the force for the Power with 34 points and 22 rebounds. Marcus Capers dropped 18 for the visiting Mississauga squad.

The Miracles are on the road in Saint John Thursday night - the next home game is scheduled for Friday, January 16th against the Halifax Rainmen. Tip-off is 7pm at the Moncton Coliseum.
