London Lightning News Release

(LONDON, Ontario) - Saturday night, in front of 3,615 fans at Budweiser Gardens, the London Lightning were defeated by the Halifax Rainmen in overtime with a score of 111-107.

The Lightning now stand at 11-7.

"We weren't focused tonight and some of our guys just didn't step up", said Head Coach Carlos Knox. "We had a stagnated period in the first half where we couldn't defend at a high level. Tonight, we need to focus and regroup and be ready for Saint John tomorrow."

Lightning veteran Marvin Phillips was the game's highest scorer with 25 points. Emmanuel Little scored a double-double with 24 points and 16 rebounds. Jonathan Mills chipped in 18 points and nine rebounds.

"We had a chance to win in overtime and we didn't execute the plays we should have. Fortunately, we have a big game tomorrow and that's where our focus is now," said Little.

The Lightning play their next home game tomorrow, Sunday, January 11at 2:00 p.m. against the Saint John Mill Rats. A large crowd is expected at Sunday's game and fans are encouraged to buy tickets early through the Budweiser Garden's Box Office.

Sunday also marks the conclusion of the second annual Charity Roundball Classic. The South Lions will take on the Westminster Wildcats in the consolation final at 9:00 a.m. Mother Theresa Secondary Spartans will tip off against the Catholic Central High school Crusaders at 10:45 a.m. for the championship final. Both games will be played at Budweiser Gardens.
