(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats cut a 27 point deficit down to 1, but came up short in the end, 124-112, to the defending NBL Canada Champion Windsor Express on the road.

"We are having mental lapses in stretches, but in other stretches you can see how good we can be." said Mill Rats Head Coach Julian King. "Each game is a process to get all the new guys acclimated to me and to each other, and we are making progress."

The Mill Rats once again fell behind early by double digits, but managed to cut the score to 55-49 with 3 minutes to go in the first half. Windsor players drilled several tough scores, especially Quinnel Brown's double pump fadeaway three pointer that beat the half time buzzer and put the Express back ahead comfortably, 66-50.

In the third, the Express again pushed out to a big lead, 86-59, with 6 min left. Saint John then went on a 36-9 run to come within 96-95 in the early fourth. Big shots were made by newcomer Darin Mency, Anthony Anderson, and Jamie Vanderbeken during the stretch.

However it was short lived because Windsor's Ryan Anderson hit three straight three pointers to extend to a 10 point lead. Anthony Anderson came up with a severe leg cramp and did not return.

Anderson led Saint John with 28 points, Kenny Jones 24, Darin Mency 16, and Johnny Mayhane 13. Deandre Thomas was unstoppable in the paint for Windsor with 28 points.

The Mill Rats fall to 7-13 on the season while the Windsor Express improve to a league leading 13-4. Saint John heads to London tomorrow for a 2pm matchup at the Budweiser Gardens.
