Miracles Nipped by Saint John

February 6, 2016 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) - Moncton Miracles News Release

The Moncton Miracles came out and fought hard throughout the whole game, but a late surge from the Mill Rats was too much for the Miracles to handle as they fell 123-111.

The Miracles were neck and neck throughout the first and they were tied at the end of the quarter with 33 points a piece. James Justice lead the quarter with 10 points shooting 2-5 from three point range. Kason Cheeks also had a solid first quarter as he chipped in six points off of the bench, including a huge Slam Dunk late in the quarter. For the Mill Rats, Johnny Mayhane added 13 points, making him the games leading scorer at the end of the first.

The Miracles came out in the second and continued their strong play, taking a 59-52 lead to end the first half. Tydran Beaty poured in nine second quarter points and Tyrell Tate chipped in with two three pointers to round out the the half. The Miracles were playing great team basketball as they had 12 team assists in the first half.

The Miracles started out slow in the third quarter, as Saint John came out shooting. With a late 16-4 run the Miracles were able to take back control and hold a 4 point lead heading into the fourth quarter. Tyler Murray came off the bench strong with 10 points in the third. Beaty also continued to play strong, throwing down two huge dunks, giving the Miracles some momentum.

For the Mill Rats Anthony Anderson had a huge third quarter scoring 15 of his game high 32 points.

The Fourth quarter started off very close, with both teams going back and forth for the lead.

However with a late momentum switch by the Mill Rats, they were able to pull ahead. Tydran Beaty continued to play strong, pouring in 10 of his team high 28 points. Johnny Mayhane and Anthony Anderson proved too strong for the Miracles having a combined 54 points for Saint John. The Mill Rats defeated the Miracles with a final score of 123-111.

The Miracles play their next home game tomorrow at 2pm at the Moncton Coliseum against the Island Storm.
