
Express Avoid Loss at Buzzer to Lightning, 86-85

(LONDON,ON) - The Windsor Express (8-9) won their second game against the London Lightning (13-4) in the same week, this time on the road. Ryan Anderson missed a three pointer at the end of the game, and the Express took the game by one point, 86-85.
Brandon Robinson starts the game off on a high note with a three pointer to give the Express an early lead. The Express maintained a lead throughout the quarter. Alex Johnson hits a jumper at the buzzer to keep the Express in the lead after the first quarter, 32-25.
The second quarter was uneventful as neither Windsor or London scored for the first few minutes. Warren Ward hit a three pointer at the 9:33 mark. London took their first lead of the game, 37-36 after a huge dunk from Stephen Maxwell with over four minutes left in the half. Windsor battled back and went into halftime with a 49-43 advantage.
Chris Commons started off the second half with a hook shot to keep the Express in the lead, 51-43. The Lightning were able to bring it within two, 51-49, but Tony Bennett hit back to back three pointers to extend the lead. The Express went into the final quarter of the game with a four point lead, 74-70.
London took their third lead of the game, 75-74 after Warren Ward hit a three pointer in the first two minutes of the quarter. Maurice Bolden tied the game at 77-77 with a big three with less than nine minutes left to play. London had a four point lead after a dunk from Chad Posthumus, but Kirk Williams Jr hit back to back buckets to tie the score, 84-84. Tony Bennett shot a pair of free throws to give Windsor the lead, 86-85.
Chris Commons finished with 21 points and 8 boards. Shaquille Keith added 18 points of his own in tonight's win.
Warren Ward put up a game high 27 points for London. Stephen Maxwell had 18 points of his own.
The Windsor Express play at The WFCU Centre on Thursday, February 11th for a rematch against the Orangeville A's. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm.
