Lexington, KY: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost 6-5 on Sunday afternoon to the Lexington Legends.

The GreenJackets were in control early as the combination of Jose Marte on the mound and John Riley at the plate proved to be successful.

Marte went 6 1/3 innings, giving up six hits and three earned runs. Along with his 10 strikeouts, he put the GreenJackets in a position to pull off the victory. Riley provided a majority of the offense for the GreenJackets on Sunday. He went two for four at the plate, driving in four of the GreenJackets five runs. The highlight was his fourth home run of the season to right field in the sixth inning to put the GreenJackets up 5-2.

Then the comeback was on by the Legends. They tied the game up in the seventh inning putting up three runs. Then in the eighth inning, they added one more to give them a 6-5 advantage. In the top of the ninth, the GreenJackets put a man on second with two outs, but were unable to knock him home to extend the game.

The GreenJackets will have an off day tomorrow, followed by a four game series with the Greenville Drive starting Tuesday. The lead for Augusta is now one game over the Rome Braves in the Southern Division.
