Berrios Added to Triple-A All-Star Game

ROCHESTER, NY - Rochester Red Wings right-hander Jose Berrios has been added to the Triple-A All-Star Game, which takes place on Wednesday, July 13 in Charlotte.

The All-Star selection is the fourth consecutive for the 22-year-old from Puerto Rico, joining 2015 with Double-A Chattanooga (Southern League), 2014 with Single-A Ft. Myers (Florida State League) and Single-A Cedar Rapids (Midwest League). Berrios also pitched in back-to-back Futures Games beginning in 2014 and 2015.

Berrios was named International League Pitcher of the Week on Monday after allowing two runs (one earned) over 16.0 innings in two starts. The former 32nd overall pick in 2012 is 8-3 with a 2.43 ERA in 12 Triple-A starts this season with 48 hits, 26 runs (21 earned), 27 walks and 80 strikeouts in 77.2 innings. He leads the league with a 0.97 WHIP, is tied for the lead in wins, ranks second with a .180 average against and is fourth in ERA.

He joins left-hander Jason Wheeler, infielder Jorge Polanco and pitching coach Stu Cliburn as Red Wings selected to this year's game as the International League All-Stars take on the Pacific Coast League selections at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, NC on Wednesday, July 13 at 7:05 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on MLB Network.
