
Indians Take Down Bats, 3-2, in 11 Innings

INDIANAPOLIS - Danny Ortiz lofted a sacrifice fly to center field to score the game's winning run as the Indians edged Louisville, 3-2, in 11 innings on Wednesday at Victory Field.
Josh Bell homered on the first pitch he saw in the first inning to put the Indians in front. The Pirates' No. 3 prospect finished 4-for-5 on the day, matching his season high in hits.
Indianapolis (46-41) and Louisville (42-44) then traded five scoreless innings as both starters settled into a comfortable groove.
Wilfredo Boscan worked six shutout innings before running into trouble in the seventh, allowing two runs in the frame. He finished with six innings, six hits, two runs with one earned, and three strikeouts. Bats' starter Robert Stephenson notched eight punchouts over 6.1 innings, allowing two runs.
Jose Osuna evened the score at 2-2 with a home run in the seventh, his first in Triple-A.
Kelvin Marte worked four shutout frames with just two hits allowed in relief.
Extra innings would be needed for the first time since back-to-back extra frames on June 21 and 22. Dovydas Neverauskas (1-1) was credited with the win for his scoreless 11th.
Drew Hayes (2-2) was on the hill when the Indians scored the game's deciding run.
The Tribe next welcomes Toledo for a two-game set starting Thursday at 7:05 p.m. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
