Tulsa Oilers News Release

GLENDALE, AZ - On Tuesday, Tulsa Oilers forward Ben Gordon was selected as the First Star of the Month in the CHL and today, the Central Hockey League has named Gordon the Easton CHL Player of the Month for February. The announcement completes an Oilers sweep of the monthly awards as Tulsa winger Adam Pleskach took home Rookie of the Month honors and Shane Madolora earned the nod for Goalie of the Month.

Over ten games in February, Gordon scored 14 goals and chipped in eight assists to lead the Oilers in scoring and push his squad to a 9-1-0 record. The International Falls, Minnesota native recorded three hat-tricks in the month including a four-goal outing on February 11 in Rapid City. Gordon, 29, posted five points in two games and registered four points in two other contests. The sixth-year pro finished February with a +13 rating and ended the month on a six-game goal streak. Gordon's scorching scoring pace earned him back-to-back CHL Player of the Week awards on February 16 and February 22.

Gordon leads the Oilers with 78 points (35 goals, 43 assists) and ranks third in the CHL scoring race. Playing at center for most of this season instead of his natural left wing position, Gordon is tied for the team lead with 20 power play points (10 goals, 10 assists) and has recorded a total of five hat-tricks to go along with 20 multi-point games. Gordon played 52 games for the Oilers last season and closed the campaign with 26 goals. This season, the University of Minnesota alum has played in the same number of games with nine more goals and a plus/minus change from -23 to +19.

In his last outing against St. Charles, Gordon dished out four assists to help Tulsa to its tenth victory in the last 11 games. On his current pace of 1.5 points per game, Gordon is on track to record the highest point total of any Oiler player in the last ten seasons.

Gordon and the Oilers will begin a two-game home stand this Friday, March 7 against the Rapid City Rush. Saturday is Budweiser Military Night presented by Oklahoma Army National Guard and the Oilers will wear special patriotic jerseys to honor the service and sacrifice of America's veterans and active military personnel. Those jerseys will be auctioned off immediately following the game to raise money for the Folds of Honor Foundation which provides scholarships and financial assistance to families of fallen or disabled soldiers.
