Tulsa's Ben Gordon Named Easton/CHL Player of the Month

GLENDALE, AZ (March 5, 2014) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Tulsa Oilers forward Ben Gordon has been named the Easton Central Hockey League Player of the Month for February/2014. Gordon will receive a special gift courtesy of Easton and the Central Hockey League to recognize his accomplishment.

The International Falls, Minnesota native had an unbelievable offensive month that saw him score 14 goals with eight assists in just 10 games. Gordon finished with a +13 plus/minus rating and helped his team to nine wins in those 10 games. The veteran had hat tricks on February 18 and February 21 and scored four goals on February 11. He finished with two four point nights and two five point nights and scored goals in seven of the 10 games.

On the season, Gordon is third in the CHL in scoring with 78 points (35-43=78) and is second in goals with 35. Compared to last season, Gordon is sitting at exactly the number of games played as the 2012-13 campaign (52) and he has nine more goals, three more assists and has improved his plus/minus rating from a -23 a year ago to a +19 this season.

Other players receiving consideration for the monthly award for February include Allen's Jonathan Zion, Arizona's Kevin Baker, Denver's Garett Bembridge and Troy Schwab, Missouri's Sebastien Thinel, Rapid City's Konrad Reeder and Tulsa's Ryan Menei.
