St. Charles Chill News Release

St. Charles, Mo. - Playing without three players, and with several others battling a stomach virus that swept through the locker room after a community event earlier in the week, the Chill jumped out to a 1-0 lead minutes into the game but Arizona tied it at 1-1 late in the first and controlled the action the rest of the way to pick up a 7-1 win.

The Chill (10-39-6) took a 1-0 lead at the 2:27 mark of the opening period when Nicklas Lindberg set up Mike MacIntyre just outside the slot for his first with St. Charles and the second-straight game the Chill have scored first. Arizona (26-24-6) found their energy in the second half of the period. Chill goalie Robby Moss made some outstanding saves to hold the lead but the Sundogs cracked the scoreboard in the final minutes to tie the game at 1-1 on the first of three goals from Kevin Baker.

Baker would add his second just over three minutes into the second period but the Chill continued to battle and just missed tying the game when a shot rang off the post. Arizona stretched their lead to 3-1 at the end of the second period and rode that momentum into the final frame.

St. Charles would not go quietly. After the Sundogs pushed their lead to 4-1 seven minutes into the third, the Chill defense picked up but the offense could muster just three shots in the period and Arizona scored three goals in the final three minutes of the game to post the lopsided score.

After two days of much needed rest, the Chill is back on the ice Saturday night at 7:05 for Heroes Night with Bobby Hull. The night begins at 5:00 p.m. with a game between the St. Louis Blues Alumni and members of the Police and Fire hockey teams. The Missouri Amateur Hockey Awards will take place on the ice that night as well.
