Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Modesto, CA - Cody Bellinger put the Quakes ahead to stay in the tenth inning, as his two-run homer was the difference in Rancho's 4-2 win over the Modesto Nuts on Wednesday night at John Thurman Field.

Bellinger, who leads the Quakes and is tied for fifth in the league with 12 home runs on the year, cracked an opposite-field homer off of Matt Carasiti (0-4) to give Rancho a 4-2 lead.

That was enough for Ramon Benjamin (5-2), who worked around back-to-back singles in the tenth to lock down the Rancho win, giving them two of three in the series and five of six against the Nuts to finish their 2015 season-long series.

The Quakes got good pitching throughout the night, with Dodgers' rehabbing right-hander Brandon League going one scoreless inning, before turning it over to Jharel Cotton, who would go on to allow just two runs over seven frames.

Rancho grabbed the game's first run, with Tyler Ogle driving in Bellinger with a two-out single for a 1-0 lead.

Modesto would rally for their only runs against Cotton in the fifth, with Jordan Patterson capping the two-run rally with an RBI single, putting Modesto in front at 2-1.

A Bellinger groundout evened things up in the sixth, as he brought home the first of his three RBIs with a grounder to second, scoring Brandon Trinkwon to knot the game at 2-2 against Modesto starter Konner Wade.

The win for the Quakes (35-24) keeps them three games ahead of the Lancaster JetHawks (32-27), who defeated Visalia on Wednesday night. Rancho will return to LoanMart Field on Thursday for Green Lite Windows and Doors Thirsty Thursday, featuring $2 Pepsi products, $3 domestic 16-oz drafts and $4 premium 16-oz drafts, wine, champagne and margaritas. Johnathan Richy (6-2) will come off the disabled list on Thursday to make the start for the Quakes, while Joel Seddon (3-4) will throw for the Stockton Ports in the opening game of the four-game series.
