Lancaster JetHawks News Release

VISALIA, Calif. - After squandering a six-run lead, the JetHawks pulled out an 11-9 win over the Visalia Rawhide in the 10th inning on Wednesday night at Recreation Park.

Chase McDonald delivered a two-RBI single up the middle to break a 9-9 tie in the top of the 10th inning against Rawhide (38-21) reliever J.R. Bradley (0-2). J.D. Davis had hit a one-out single and reached second when an A.J. Reed popup fell untouched in shallow left field. Jack Mayfield then advanced both runners on a groundout to set up McDonald's go-ahead hit.

McDonald and Davis both collected three hits in the contest. Mayfield, Ronnie Mitchell and Brett Phillips all homered against Rawhide starter Blayne Weller, who yielded eight runs on 11 hits over 4.1 innings.

Keegan Yuhl (1-0) rebounded from a blown save to record the win for the JetHawks (32-27). The right-hander struck out four batters over 2.1 innings of relief.

Yuhl created a two-out jam in the bottom of the 10th by allowing three singles to load the bases. But Tyler Brunnemann entered and struck out Fidel Pena to end the game and give the JetHawks the series victory.

The Rawhide had tied the game in the bottom of the eighth on a Raul Navarro sacrifice fly. With Lancaster leading by one run, Kevin Medrano led off the inning with a single. He advanced to second on a throwing error by pitcher Reymin Guduan, attempting to turn a double play on a grounder back to the mound. Michael Perez advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt, and Breland Almadova walked to load the bases with one out.

The previous inning, Visalia put four runs on the board against JetHawks reliever Andrew Walter on a two-RBI double by Almadova and a Daniel Palka two-run homer. The rally cut Lancaster's lead to 9-8.

An Alfredo Gonzalez RBI-single and a RBI-triple by Brian Holberton had given the JetHawks the game's first lead, but Visalia tied the game in the bottom half on a Michael Perez two-run home run. Mayfield's solo homer in the third put Lancaster back in the lead against Weller and the Rawhide.

The JetHawks open a four-game series against the Lake Elsinore Storm on Thursday. Troy Scribner (2-2, 4,43) will pitch for Lancaster against Lake Elsinore's Ronald Herrera (4-5, 4.23) with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
