
Bees Shut Out Opponent for First Time This Season

Burlington, IA (May 1, 2009) - The Burlington Bees ended a four-game losing streak by shutting out Peoria 1-0 Friday night at Community Field. Zach Peterson, Derrick Saito and Barry Bowden combined to throw the five-hit shutout as the Bees took the final game of the three-game series from Peoria.
The only run of the night was scored in the fourth inning. With one out, Eric Hosmer doubled. David Wood then singled to right-center to score Hosmer and give the Bees a 1-0 lead. The Bees held on to that lead throughout.
Zach Peterson got the start for the Bees and pitched very well. He allowed just four hits with five strikeouts and two walks in six innings. Peterson got the win to move to 2-1 on the season. Derrick Saito pitched two scoreless innings and picked up his first hold of the year. Barry Bowden pitched a scoreless ninth for his third save of the season.
The Bees open a three-game series with West Michigan Saturday night at 6:30 at Community Field. Brent Fisher is the scheduled starter for the Bees.
