Salt Lake Bees News Release

An hour and nine-minute rain delay couldn't slow down the Salt Lake Bees' offense as they beat the Tacoma Rainiers 9-3 Wednesday night. The Bees put up 17 hits, tying a season-high and surpassing the combined total from their last three games combined. Their nine runs were more than they had scored in their last four games combined.

Every Bee in the lineup had at least one hit and four had multi-hit games. Jake Gatewood was a double short of the cycle, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. Dillon Thomas went 3-for-5 with four runs scored and Orlando Martinez went 3-for-3 with a walk.

Adam Seminaris picked up the first Triple-A win of his career, going five innings and giving up just one run on six hits while striking out three batters. The Bees didn't commit an error for the seventh-straight game, a new season-long streak.

The Bees found themselves trailing 1-0 after the top of the first inning, but they didn't play from behind for long. A Jose Gomez triple highlighted a three-run first inning for Salt Lake and by the sixth inning they had built up an 8-1 lead. Gatewood hit a two-RBI home run in the fifth inning and a RBI-triple in the sixth.

Tacoma hit solo home runs in the seventh and ninth innings, but could not string anything together to close the gap.

Game three of the series will be played tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m.
