Bees Pick Up Walk-Off Win To Extend Winning Streak To 6 Games

Burlington, IA (August 26, 2009) - The Burlington Bees extended their winning streak to a season-high six games defeating Wisconsin 2-1 Wednesday night. David Wood scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning when Jason Taylor reached on an error to win the ballgame.

The Bees scored the first run of the game in the third inning. With one out, Ryan Wood singled and then stole second. With two outs, Patrick Norris singled which scored Ryan Wood and gave the Bees a 1-0 lead. Wisconsin tied the game with one run in the top of the sixth inning.

In the bottom of the ninth with two outs, David Wood doubled. Taylor then came to the plate and reached on a throwing error. Running hard the entire time, David Wood scored easily from second to win the game for the Bees.

Manauris Baez got the start for the Bees but did not factor into the decision. In six innings, he allowed one run on six hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. Tony Pena pitched two no-hit innings with three strikeouts and one walk. James Thompson picked up the win to move to 5-3 on the season. He faced just three batters with two strikeouts and no walks.

The Bees were outhit 6-4. No one had more than one hit for the Bees. Shawn Griffin walked two times.

The Bees conclude the series with Wisconsin on Thursday night at Community Field. Ivor Hodgson is the scheduled starter with first pitch scheduled for 6:30.
