Burlington Bees News Release

Burlington, IA (Aug 25, 2008) - The Burlington Bees have teamed up with TV show "Playing for Peanuts" to offer digital TV episode downloads to their fans.

Beginning August 26, fans will receive a free Digital Download Card with every purchase at the Bees souvenir Shop. The plastic cards - manufactured by Dropcards.com - will allow fans to download free episodes and music from the show. Episodes can be viewed on computers and portable video devices including iPods and iPhones.

"Playing for Peanuts" is a 10-episode reality TV series chronicling a year in the life of the South Georgia Peanuts. Camera crews followed the Peanuts during their only season in the ill-fated South Coast League. The TV series premiered in May 2008 on TV networks in nine regional markets, averaging 150,000 viewers nationally.

"It's exciting to be able to partner with the Bees on a unique promotion like this," explains "Playing for Peanuts" producer John Fitzgerald. "I'm hoping the promotion introduces the TV show to baseball fans who might not have heard of it otherwise."

Bees play-by-play broadcaster Matt Pauley appears in the show. Pauley was the voice of the South Georgia Peanuts during the 2007 season.

"Last summer was one of the most eventful and exciting summers of my life. To have it all documented for other people to see is very exciting," Pauley said. "I am just so glad that I am getting the opportunity to share last summer with fans of the Burlington Bees."

The Bees are finishing up their final home stand of the regular season. The Bees will open the playoffs on Wednesday September Third at Community Field. Tickets for the final regular season games and the first playoff game are currently available at Community Field.
